Director Ridley Scott and actor Russel Crowe of the Gladiator fame reunite once again in an epic venture called the Robin Hood. The film takes us back to the 13th century England where Crowe stars as the legendary figure known by generations as Robin Hood, and his band of vagabonds fight injustice and corruption in the local village and lead a revolt against the crown.
The adventure takes us on a historical journey through the life of an expert archer from his service in King Richards’s army and upon his death, his journey to Nottingham, a small village suffering from the injustice of a tyrant Sherriff, where he falls for a maid, Lady Marion, played by Oscar winner Cate Blanchett. Robin uses his intelligence and military skills to free his home village from tyranny and corruption in England, by taking back what is rightfully his to restore justice and happiness to England while leading his merry men of Sherwood Forest to victory. Robin Hood thus becomes a hero in English folklore known for “robbing from the rich and giving to the poor and attempts to cleanse the land of evil that the Sherriff has spread. The director’s gritty new take on the bow-wielding outlaw is scheduled for May 2010 release and one of the most awaited movie releases of the year 2010. One now really has to wait to see whether the movie relives the magic of the 1991 blockbuster-Robin Hood-The Prince of thieves and the shear class of Scott’s previous venture or merely goes down into history as yet another epic debacle. |
