Television Shows - The New, The Return and the Shamelessly Canceled

If you're like me and impatiently waiting the next season of Lost, telly might seem a bit humdrum for now. So thought I would check out the shows lined up for Fall 2008.

Returning shows in Fall of 2008

Watch for a bit of spoiler alerts!

Return of the Favorites

Heroes

Alright so this one is not technically about the third season that will air in September this year. Sort of. Rather, it is about the related webisodes.

Tim Kring has been hinting at webisodes for a while now. And you know the big hoola-hoo about new media that has propped up in the recent months. So it's no surprise that Heroes will hit the big WWW in the form of in-betweener material. They've been introducing the notion of continuity with the graphcs novel; why, not take it a step further. Someone had a cunning plan, Baldrick!

If you check out the official webside, you get to oogle at the trailer for the 3 made-for-web episodes. A new hero makes a grand entrance; Echo de Mille, postman by day, Sonic Dude by night (I made up the name). If the hype is anything to go by, you can say bye bye to postman's role as ankle-fodder for your pet doggie.

I'll reserve judgement; the only postman that's been impressive so far was Moist Lipwig. And he was a con-man!

Desperate Housewives

It's not all about action and adventure; there's also the famed series about suburbian bliss.

Since it is DH, there's bound to be mayhem, creepy neighbors and possibly a dead in-law.

DH held out quite well over the years; it's still got that dark sense of humor and twisted storylines, albeit a bit predictable into the 3rd season. Let's hope it picks up for the upcoming one.

Well, tomato throwing time for Susan-Mike fans. Seems like they have split for good. That's a bit of a blow, considering the painful process that culminated in the wedding of S&M.

However, the handy plumber will still be around Wisteria Lane. Wonder what role he's be playing in the main plotline.

New Faces

There are a few new shows to spice up the prime time hour. All you can do is keep an eye out for potential gems; you never can tell from a review can you? I made fun of Lost when I read about it. Look at me now, I am a die-hard-fan.

90210

Never mind what I said earlier; feel free to jab fun at this. It was the most talked about show, that is, if you were a pimply teen trying to survive high school. Personally, I always thought Twin Peaks was the proper teen school depiction - characters slept around, there was soppy romance and I'm sure there were couple of junkie rebels.

Here's a chance to recapture the 'magic'. 90210 is back, with new characters. Same old, same old story telling. New kds move in, tries to fit in, lots of teenage drama. Old fans will get all teary eyed at familiar faces making a comeback as the grownups in the background. If you hated the show, I'm sure you'll get ample opportunities to poke fun at the show. It does have some cringe-worthy moments, doesn't it.

Whatever the case, I'm pretty sure this show will take off really well and have a high ratings. It seems to be the trajectory of anything aimed at a teen target audience. So the next big thing, ladies and gents.

Off with their heads

Oooh I hate talking about canceled shows. Chances are, you only get around to watching something as a re-run and once it captures your mind and you browse IMDB for more info, the nasty "canceled" sign flashes at you. If you google for info on the show, the number fans moaning its demise can pack a stadium. At least.

Well here are the ones that have met an untimely demise - Jericho, Bionic Woman, Carpoolers, Moonlight and Kid Nation, among many others.

I can't believe the news about Jericho. That has got to be one of the most lamented show in the past decade years. Fans went so far as to send loads of peanuts (nothing says I hate you like nuts) to the producers offices.

He's Alive!

Have you guys ever seen a show called Morgus the Magnificent? I always thought that this guy created Frankenstein because he was so creepy. I know what you all are saying that do remeber the show, " How old is she again?" Yea I am not that old but i do remember stuff like that.I was never afraid of Frankenstein as a kid. I personally thought it was kind of cool that they took the body parts from other people and made a monster out of it. It all sounds good in theory but i know that if something like this was actually real and i had to be in its presence i would be scared out of my mind.
