Fergie joins Nelly's “Party People”

Nelly's new music video, “Party People” is doing the rounds today. And its got maybe-pregnant, maybe-bot Fergie in it.

An up-beat, vibey song, it's an excellent sneak peek as what fans can expect from Nelly's upcoming album, Brass Knuckles (note: it's set for June release).

The song is not without its controversy though. This dance-floor number was actually Fergie's own song, one that was a potential candidate for her next album.

As the dashing singer explains to MTV News, “'Party People' started as a song that Polow Da Don [producer] and I did back when I did 'London Bridge' and 'Glamorous,' ... Basically, it was almost done. Trina did a verse on it; that's why you hear me say [her name] on the song. Everyone thought it was too street for me at the time. [Laughs.] So that's why they didn't want to put it on The Dutchess.”

But no hard feeling for the producer there. Fergie gets to share the spotlight with Nelly while he has tweaked the song to add a raw edge.

As Fergie herself exclaims, “... I can't hate on it, because it's good! I like it! I like this version.' And all the label heads loved this version. And Nelly called me like, 'It's crazy!' "
